Anthology of Feminine Nature: Perspectives of Sincerity

This body of work is dedicated to showcasing the variety of ways that femininity is expressed in the individual. There are seventeen pieces shown here, each one uniquely composed of different materials. The separate works are extrapolated from anonymous people who subscribe to the feminine nature and who have graciously lent me their perspective and story. Every form contains a touchstone to a direct memory or association they have with their gender. It is not meant for static viewing but is designed so that the audience will interact with the pieces and run their hands through them as they walk in and out of the rows. These works are all constructed from materials from the familiar home such as curtains, sheets, and jewelry that have been repurposed. This is to pay tribute to the ideas that have come before and have previously defined what it meant to be feminine. This work represents these ideas being deconstructed, contemplated, and rebuilt with confidence and sincerity. It is not just meant to be a showcase of variety, but rather a resource or conversation. My hope is that in seeing the multitude of expressions represented here, the viewer can start to ponder what their own articulation would look like and how it would be communicated in this medium.

This work was shown in a solo exhibit at Havner’s Frame Shop as well as a group exhibition at Union University.
